Welcome to the Summer

This summer has been so hot already. Take the time to make sure that your family is drinking lots of water. Check on the Elderly. Also, please don't forget to look out for your four legged friends. Your dogs need to be kept out of the direct sunlight, need to have water available at all times. Or they could just be lazy like our beagle and spend her time laying in the house under the air conditioning. When she goes out to the bathroom it is a 5 minute trip. Bella the beagle definitely is spoiled rotten. Hope you have a safe summer.

Welcome to the Holiday Season

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. When I was growing up I always had a white Christmas so the holiday spirit was so easy to have. Now living in Tennessee we have no snow which makes it hard sometimes to get the Christmas spirit. But this year I have seemed to get the Christmas spirit earlier than usual. So may everyone have a blessed holiday, enjoy your family and friends.

Vacation Time in Tennessee

I was not born in the state of Tennessee but I am so glad to be able to call it my home. I grew up until the age of eleven years old in a small town in upstate New York. Ogdensburg, New York has harsh winters and short summers. Tennessee has the perfect climate for me. We have four seasons with none of them being to extreme. We get less than 10 inches of snow most
years making snow nice to look at. Our summers are warm but nice enough to be able to enjoy all that our state has to offer.

The state of Tennessee is normally divided into what we like to call the three sections. Memphis to the west, Nashville middle Tennessee, and Knoxville and Chattanooga in the east. Tennessee offers small towns and large cities with so much culture, history, and natural beauty.

Memphis is the home to Graceland, the blues, and barbecque. History abounds in the city where legends of rhythmn and blues and the king of rock and roll Elvis Presley once played music on Beale Street.

Nashville is the home to the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame, Vanderbilt University, and the Tennessee Titans football team and Nashville Predators Hockey team. Middle Tennessee offers people the opporunity to visit the homes of two Us Presidents James Polk and Andrew Jackson. As well as the Jack Daniels Distellery where you can see whiskey made before your eyes.

Knoxville is home to one of the most distinguished and recognized Universities. The University of Tennessee offers athletic programs such as SEC award winning college football. Tennessee football boast famous alumni such as Indianopolis Colt quartback Peyton Manning. The University of Tennessee also has the most winnest coach in college ladies basketball history Coach Pat Summit. She has lead the the Lady Volunteers Basketball team to eight National titles. The college offers high academic programs to prepare students for the future.
Just north of Knoxville is the famous Nascar Track at Bristol where legends such as Dale Earnhardt the Intimader, Richard Petty,Rusty Wallace as well as the rising and current stars of Nascar have driven. A favorite racetrack of many drivers the nightly Bristol race is one to be seen as the winner can be a seasoned veteran or a rookie.
To the east of Knoxville is the Great Smokey Mountains which is the most visited National Park in the country. Also in this area is Dollywood Amusemunt Park made famous by legendary country artist Dolly Parton. Gatlinburg, Sevierville and Pigeon Forge offer a wide variety of family friendly activities. As well as artist and craftsman who still make items the old fashion way.
The Southeast corner of Tennessee is home to Chattanooga. Made famous by the Glen Miller song "The Chattanooga Choo Choo." Once named by the CBS News as the dirtiest air quaility city in America. Chattanooga did what other cities only dream about making their air quaility excellent and re-inventing their Riverfront to promote tourism.
I am proud to live in the Chattanooga area and have seen first hand our city strive to overcome the 1970's factory air quaility. Chattanooga now offers a beautiful Aquarium like no other one in the country, the Delta Queen a floating hotel from the old days of river gambling down the Mississippi is docked in the riverfront of Tennessee. Such natural beauty like Rock City and Ruby Falls can not be seen anywhere else in this country. Civil War history abounds in the city as well as the whole state of Tennessee.
No matter what you are looking for in a vacation Tennessee has it available. I don't know of any other state where you can start the day in the Great Smokey Mountains, ride the waves of the Ocoee River, go to a concert at the world famous Grand Ole Opry and eat Southern BBQ just like your Mama made. So the next time you are looking for a place to spend
great quality time on a vacation choose one of the options of Tennessee. We loved to see you here.
